SASCO CEMETERY
Sasco Road
Red Rock, Arizona
This is a cemetery from the old mining camp of Sasco. We walked the ruins of the old camp and finally found the small cemetery that is triangular in shape, completely fenced in and a double gate on one side and a walk-in gate on the other side. The cemetery can be reached off I-10 south to Exit 226, Red Rock exit and Sasco Rd is right there straight ahead. The road is black topped until right after the Red Rock Feed Lot and it is gravel and passable all the way. We did encounter the wash was running with water and fairly deep in the middle but we were in a truck, be careful. We traveled about 8 miles from the Interstate and after you cross Santa Cruz Wash it is about a mile to the La Osa Ranch Rd. and then about 1/4 mile further to the cemetery. This is a traditional Mexican cemetery and people know who the "Unknown's" are as there are candle containers and flower vases on the graves. There is also a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the cemetery. This cemetery was walked on 6 May 2001.
Starting at the double gate the first row of graves were as follows:
John C. Kenney 1934-1992 [P] John's grave is the first grave to the front right in the picture. Then the many unknown's....
